First Day of Kindergarten - 2006

Our big M's first day of Kindergarten was kind of a tough day for mommy and our middle M. I think they both realized how much their lives were going to change. Lots of tears were shed. On the first day, our big M walked right in to school (holding daddy's hand), hung up her backpack, and made herself at home. Our big M's teacher, Mrs. B, is great and so far our girl loves school. She hasn't made any friends yet (we think that the teacher is keeping the kids too busy to get to know each other or cause any trouble) but is enjoying the classroom and all of the new things to do. Last week her class got to go to the library for the first time and she brought a book home about opposites. So far all of the material is a refresher but she enjoys the new experiences. After a few days (including one when mommy secretly followed her), our big girl was able to walk to class on her own from our van. Now mommy pulls up and our big M hops out on her own and waves good-bye. Mommy doesn't like this new independence at all. Our big girl thinks that getting to play outside is the best part of school - imagine that.
